Kathy's
Review: This book has already been put into action by our bilingual
crew. My bilingual co worker summed this book up by saying "an ambitious
endeavor, indeed!" This book has been a wonderful resource to our program,
which recently began offering bilingual story times/playgroups. It is
stuffed with over 450 Spanish and English selections. They are broken down
by very familiar preschool themes and then further by type---rhymes,
songs, stories and finger plays. Although some of the rhythm and rhyme is
lost in translation from English to Spanish (as the phonological rules of
English do not carry over into Spanish language), it is wonderful for our
ESL learners to see the comparisons between the two languages side by
side----and be able to share that with their children! I especially like
the selections that begin in Spanish and are reversely translated to
English. So often you do not see this in books---only English to Spanish.
Thank you for such an assortment of bilingual fun!
